Margonites

The Margonites were an ancient seafaring human civilization who visited the Crystal Desert 'hundreds of years' before the current time, and predated the Elonians.

In their attempts to achieve Ascension, they constructed towers in order to ascend to the gods, not realizing that it is not by physical means one may ascend. Like all others, the Margonites failed.

At the time the Margonites attempted Ascension, the Crystal Desert was mostly covered in water. Being a seafaring civilization, their architecture is primarily constructed out of (or built to resemble) parts of old ships. Their greatest concentration of settlements appears to have been in the southeast corner of the Crystal Desert near Thirsty River and Destiny's Gorge.

Note: A reference in the Strategy Guide for Guild Wars Factions mentions that there is evidence that the Luxons of Cantha made it to the Crystal Desert. Since the Luxons were seafaring people as were the Margonites, it may be possible that the Margonites and Luxons are the same people or share a common ancestry. However, there is no in-game confirmation of this relationship as neither ship styles nor building styles attributed to the Margonites are closely related to the sights we have in Cantha.

Right, so after seeing this again, I decided that with all the sea there seems to be with the realse of Nightfall/Elona, that we have to at some point be introduced to the Margonites.

its quite possible we will see more of the margonites in the future.

we just have to sit tight and wait i guess.

It's the special place where Augury Rock is found, which is the key to ascension and more importantly, KICKING THAT BASTARD OF A DOPPLEGANGER'S ASS. >=(

Whats so special about the crystal desert anyway....

That is a question I hope we can have answered at some point, at the very least some in sight, perhaps in Elona where most of them seem to have came from anyways.

Not all of them are Xiao, some of them are Elona/Elonia resisdents who attempted to do the same thing AFTER the Margonites did.

I say Elona/Elonia because like one or two ofthe NPC's in the desert have Elona spelled Elonia. Just see the Elona entry of Guilwiki for more info.

But yes, I would like to know why the Crystal Desert is such a fascination with so many people, why the Forgotten are there and called the Forgotten also.
